Looking to finance your home in New Braunfels?
When buying a home, applying for the mortgage loan is very distressing for a lot of people, but it doesn't have to be.
I've got great connections to many lenders in the New Braunfels area, and they've helped me understand a few things that can make the loan application process a snap.
1 – Make a list of questions regarding your loan program
Make sure you bring a list of questions if you don't entirely understand the pros and cons of all the different programs.
I or one of my lenders can help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of both programs, because it can be hard to know the distinctions between both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages.
2 – Determine when to lock
Locking in an interest rate denotes that the lender guarantees the interest rates for the loan – often at the time the loan application is received.
By floating the rate, you can lock the rate anytime between the day you apply for the loan and at the time of closing. Buyers who decide to float believe the interest rates will fall in the near future. Click here to see the outlook for the next 90 days of interest rates.
3 – Decide if you want to pay additional points to decrease your rate
Normally you can opt to pay additional points to lower the rate of your mortgage loan. Each point is 1 percent of the mortgage loan and is payable in cash at the time of closing.

4 – Compile your paperwork
Getting a loan requires a lot of paperwork, so you should take some time to get your documentation together. Click here to preview general information that goes on a loan application.
