We live in the MOST AMAZING PLACE!!!  Something is always going on - whether it be in historic Gruene, on the Guadalupe river or in downtown New Braunfels - there is always an experience to be had.

If you missed the Comal County Fair and Junior Livestock Show .... then you missed one of the greatest "New Braunfels" experiences.  I truly felt like I had stepped back into the looking glass and ended up in Mayberry. 

That entire weekend is a tribute to yesteryear.  A time when things were simple, wholesome and just plain fun.  It is the simple pleasures of life that give me such joy. 

It actually all begins on Thursday evening.  There are pigs to be washed, goats to be milked and cows, well.... whatever you do with cows .... the ladies of the town (and children too) are bustling around their kitchens trying to make sure they have entered their "perfect baked good".  Then to bed with all of the little ones, because they will "all" be walking in the Fair Parade.  Whether it be the initial Pet Parade or one of the many dance team members or in the marching band - there is a place for everyone.

The town shuts down on Friday morning and pack into a one mile strip with their coolers and chairs - Mom's chasing their little ones who are too young to participate in the parade.... but that's ok, because they are trying to catch the beautiful butterflies that inhabit the neighboring bushes - Grandparents fanning themselves and waiting not only for the best entertainment this side of the Mississippi (forget Vegas ... you can't chunk a punkin in Vegas) - to wait for
